The repair quote for unit with child parts is close to 1.6L . Is it wise to invest this amount and further 90k for clutch replacement in future on 8yrs old vehicle?

Any idea what was the resale value for your car with 2 lakh kms under the belt? Any chance you had it evaluated?

The real question is whether you'll be able to recover the money spent in fixing the issue after selling it. But even if you do, is it worth the hassle or is it more cost effective to actually scrap it?

I know you wouldn't like how this conversation is going.

So, we have Grand Vitara Hybrid as primary.
Dad wants to get this DSG repaired and keep the car for next 6yrs which means clutch replacement in future costing another lakh combined with uncertainty.

I'm thinking if we could scrap/sell this off without repair for maybe 2.5-3L and use the amount to get a used ameo(dad can't drive manual at all) or use the money to buy a hatch like figo/polo diesel provided we find good ones for me

With a heavy heart, I had to sell the car as it was. Fortunately, I got the BUB VW guys to buy it for 3L.
I had got the car evaluated (before the DSG failure) for 4.2L. Considering the repair expense of 2L and all the hassles, it seemed like a practical decision to part with it for 3L.

The funny part is, I saw the car on road last month - bought by an acquaintance for 4.5L, and running pretty smoothly !
