The levelling feature is useful when you drive under full load. It is also very useful when driving in rains and fogs because you can adjust the beams to a level where they point to something closer to you rather than illuminating the raindrops or the fog itself resulting in bad visibility for you as a driver.

Next time it is raining heavily at night, try to switch the beams to High and then adjust it to the lower position and wait till you get comfortable and are able to see what is ahead of you. Of course, you can do this while remaining in low beam as well.

Ideally, with levelling system that is functional, you need to see the focus of the beams (high or low) move ahead (highest position) or closest (lowest position). If this is not happening, something is wrong with your headlamp leveller.
