Which year is this C Class. It looks like dampness has affected the roof line - I could be wrong

Re: Roofliner fabric of my Mercedes C-Class is damaged

This looks like a normal case of the roof fabric getting separated from its foam backing. Happens due to heat and age. The only solution is to replace the complete roof fabric.

Common issue with most euro brands. Be is Skoda, VW, Audi, BMW or Merc. If you park outside in the sun over time the fabric comes off the foam as Akshay mentioned.

Dealer will replace entire roof including foam. You need to go to a guy who can remove the cloth and fix the same or similar shade cloth back.

Re: Roofliner fabric of my Mercedes C-Class is damaged

As mentioned by other members, the headliners is coming loose from its foam backing. Can not be fixed, needs to be replaced completely.

I just had it done to my Jaguar XJR, have a look here:

As a temporary fix you might be able to stick small pins into it. But it will get worse as time goes on.

Good luck

Re: Roofliner fabric of my Mercedes C-Class is damaged

Usually seen in Audi, Mercedes post 7-8 years. I have heard complaints from Audi A4,A6,Q3 owners post 6-7 years. I do have the same issue in Q3 as well. It started with a small patch like the one in the photo in the post and in 1 year time it worsened and now needs to be replaced. Dealer(Audi) will replace entire roof and charges 80-90K but few good car shops can get this done for 20-25K.

I have the same issue in a 6 year old 3 series. Any good options to get it done in Mumbai other than the dealer as they're quoting an exorbitant amount.

Re: Roofliner fabric of my Mercedes C-Class is damaged

Looks like this is a W205 generation car. This particular issue is common with most german vehicles past the age of 3-4 years. It happens primarily due to heat, the headliner material eventually comes loose from its foam backing with time. The only solution is to replace the entire trim along with foam from authorised service center which can be frightfully expensive. It's quite possible to get this repaired from outside too by removing the cloth and fixing it back, but the factory-spec perfection could not be obtained.

Seems to be a regular issue with german cars. This has been discussed here
