Hyundai Accent Clutch Overhaul

Hi BHPians,

I have just got a 2002 Hyundai Accent GLS, Every thing is superb about the car since i have upgraded from 800, i may think so. The pickup and accelaration is satisfactory.

46000 KMs done, Single owner vehcle
The clutch is hard and so the shifting of gears is also not smooth.

Do i need a clutch overhaul? How much?
Does Hard clutch gives less FE. i thing i am getting only arounf 8kms to 9kmpl AC city heavy traffic.

Please Advice.

Thanks

Does the clutch slip? To test...... apply the hand-brake really tight. Now attempt to move the car in first gear. Does the engine begin to stall? If it does not stall, then clutch is definitely worn out.

If not, then maybe just an adjustment is required. It would be a simple labour job.

Ofcourse, an inspection by any mechanic should help.

Hi,

The Accent clutch is hydraulic and has no adjustment. In all probability you will need to overhaul the clutch. Also a worn out clutch does affect the FE by about a km or so.

Yeah Dnt know about slipping, but it jerks a bit in 1st gear...initially.
i have been to electra which is just opp my previous HCl offic... they usually modify cars and champions in that... i have also seen cars like nissan skyline there..
please advice would electra be a good place to get the clutch repaired...

how much will it cost approx... if around 4k to 5k its ok, if its going to cost around 10k then i will do it later.

Depending on what has gone wrong in the clutch. Esteem clutch job costs about 5-7k. Hyundai should be a little more than that, i presume.
