The best original rating H4 P43t bulbs are Philips X-treme power followed by Osram Night breaker. Whilst I was in India i could not find them available so i got them from the UK. If you're buying Philips X-treme in India, to assist you in differentiating counterfeits from the original have a good look at the original bulbs in this official Philips x-treme site:
Home page: PHILIPS - X-treme Power Lamp
Details of the bulb: PHILIPS - X-treme Power Lamp

I am assuming it will be difficult to give the finished look of the original palladium & chrome coating to counterfeits, it being expensive also. But then am not sure the if the plagiarists have refined the art of reproduction to an extreme degree of faithfulness

There are couple of websites (UK based stores) where you can order the bulbs and have them delivered to India for free (as claimed). I got my pair from one of them but instead had them deliver in UK.

PowerBulbs - upgrade car bulbs, headlight bulbs, xenon bulbs from Philips and Osram, including Philips Xtreme Power and Osram NightBreaker globes.
Car Bulbs Direct - Philips X-Treme Power, Vision Plus, Blue Vision, Silver Vision and more - upgrade xenon car bulbs, headlight bulbs, autobulbs and autolamps from Philips

Cheers!

Hi abk,

I have found a genuine importer of the entire line of Philips automotive bulbs in Bangalore. I can vouch for his quality as I have bought 4 sets of bulbs from him and they were all genuine imports.

The best part is, I got them at a far lesser price than even ebay.

Cheers,

Hi gpa,
I purchased a pair of vision plus lamps just a while ago from a local dealer. To my knowledge these lamps appear to be genuine(rather m sure that they are genuine coz the dealer is a reputed one in the market). May be the case that these lamps are discontinued by Philips(as u said). Manufacturing year on the pack is 2004.
So it could be very well true that the product is discontinued. The pack mentions 50% brighter and upto 20 mtr long throw.
Have installed them. Let's see how they perform. Will keep you guys updated.

I got Philips X-treme Power bulbs from JC Road, Bangalore. Details of shop are in my post http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...tml#post978507

I can also add that last few days, I am away on vacation and doing lot of night drives including rain and fog thru dark interior roads and it has been lot better. I feel worth it. Only point to wait and see is the life of these bulbs.

Hi Path_Finder,

Yes, I concur on your experience with these bulbs. I drove from Bangalore to Trivandrum in the night and with heavy rain and these bulbs perform fantastically!

I am also just waiting to see how long they last. The Philips website claims a good life for these bulbs. Lets see if they live up to those claims.

Cheers,

H4 100/90 Rally Bulbs

Guys,
I just got my headlamps upgraded to 100/90 Rally From Philips. Took care to have the wiring upgraded to along with the relays. But now as I was going through some threads, found out that they may effect the reflectors in the long run!
Now that has me worried :-(. What would I need to do to keep the reflectors in good shape? If someone has been using this on their Zen, the feedback would help in cooling some nerves!
BTW.. I hope the lamps are street legal!

Hi there,

Well it depends on the reflector of your car. If you have the old Zen with glass lens and reflector, this upgrade should work just fine, whereas if you own onne of the new gen vehicles with plastic lenses, you could see some minor dulling of the clear plastic lens and reflectors.

Cheers,

As mentioned by gpa, I also feel old Zen should be fine. I had 100/90 on my Zen without problem for 3 years long ago (10 years back). Anyhow check out your reflectors. Also good idea to check out the holders, if they are plastic get them changed to ceramic ones.
