Thanks a lot guys!!! I have a 2001 Zen and guess the lenses are not plastic! That would mean I am safe on that count . The holders though are plastic so might need to look into them. I also do hope the lamps are street legal!

They are not street legal - anything above 60/55W is not.

If you use then 2-3 hours a day with frequent dipping expect couple of months of life atmost.
Can someone confirm the Lifetime of Philips Xtreme Power 55/60 ?
As per TSK it looks like we would get only a few months of Life. Spending 900/- every 3 months seems to be little costly

Hi dskumar,

You don't have to be worried about the life of these bulbs. the Philips website claims that they have a long lifespan. I have been using them extensively since the past 3 months and they peform brilliantly!

Cheers,

If you are a highway runner who does high-low flashing often(in highways night driving its often necessary) I expect around 4-5 months life for Xtreme power. However the +50% etc., are pretty good on reliability.
When you go to +90% etc., adverse conditions can lead to frequent bulb failure.

Xtreme power gives 75% of normal bulb life as per Philips – that should be lot more than 4-5 months. These bulbs are fairly new in the market – is there any real usage life we know of?

This bulb has been in international market for quite some time, and most online forums give it(and osram nightbreaker) a life of around 6-8 months

Do we have to add any Extra Components?

If you're buying Philips X-treme in India, to assist you in differentiating counterfeits from the original have a good look at the original bulbs in this official Philips x-treme site:
Home page: PHILIPS - X-treme Power Lamp
Details of the bulb: PHILIPS - X-treme Power Lamp

I am assuming it will be difficult to give the finished look of the original palladium & chrome coating to counterfeits, it being expensive also. But then am not sure the if the plagiarists have refined the art of reproduction to an extreme degree of faithfulness

There are couple of websites (UK based stores) where you can order the bulbs and have them delivered to India for free (as claimed). I got my pair from one of them but instead had them deliver in UK.

PowerBulbs - upgrade car bulbs, headlight bulbs, xenon bulbs from Philips and Osram, including Philips Xtreme Power and Osram NightBreaker globes.
Car Bulbs Direct - Philips X-Treme Power, Vision Plus, Blue Vision, Silver Vision and more - upgrade xenon car bulbs, headlight bulbs, autobulbs and autolamps from Philips

Cheers!

Do we have to add any extra components to Car or to Car battery other than this bulb?

I am using Philips Xtreme Power for the last 3 months – about 1 hour of night a day average. Let us see how long it lasts.

For your use they are great. 1 hour a night is minor usage. My warning was for highway users where lots of "flashing" between high and low is there. In that case the bulbs will fry in 6-8 months.

Bulb cost of Palio MJD

On 6th Dec. the front indicator bulb of my Palio MJD burnt out. Got a replacement from Concorde Motors, Hyderabad. The bulb cost Rs. 53. (Phew). I never knew a yellow coloured bulb would cost that much!

Not many car accessories shops in Bangalore know about Philips extreme bulbs. Finally went to Auto shop, Koramangala. He called up AK traders and confirmed. I ordered for a pair, Rs.900.
