Baleno at 160kmh steering problem

hi

recently i when was driving my baleno on NH7, i faced a weird problem. The steering of the car which is electronic was behaving perfectly till 140kmh, it was hard, car was completely in control but when i was crossed this speed the steering got very light, at 160 and 180 kmh, it was very nervous ,its like a normal power steering where a light rotation can make a sharp move on car.it feels very risky.
I have put 15 inch yokos avs sports on HR rims.

Can u guys help on this , is it normal with baleno or some kind of defect..

Steering is hydraulic not electric.

What do you mean by light, yes as speed increase the steering will become sharper, but thats the way it is supposed to be.

i have a similar problem with my lancer. when i cross 130... if i'm accelerating, the steering may or may not be fine. but if i'm decelerating from anything between 160-120, the steering feel starts vibrating like mad, with a continuous khatkhat khat khat sound. it doesnt effect the driving in any way but your hands go sore. i spoke to he showroom guys and they say some bush has to be replaced. the lancer has done around 50000 kms... what is this bush they're talking about??

@optimus: ask them the name and post, hope you have cleared the option of wheel balancing already.

Balance rod/lower arm/tie rod end all these can be culprits in your case since car has done 50000 kms

The steering on my Baleno vibrates at around 120kmph.. Thats probably because of wheel alignment issues. Havent fixed it yet.. prefer to limit myself to sane speed limits. IMHO, its madness to cross 120kmph on ANY Indian roads.

I also have similar problem when i cross 120 kph. Think this is the problem with wheel alignment itself.

@spider, this is not normal in a Baleno. get your tires, rims, wheel balacing checked.

Seemingly a wheel balancing issue, could also be your front bearings (but that would tell itself at other times)

edit - get your toe setting checked as well.

Optimus, if I am not mistaken, when you are decelerating, you are decelerating on the brakes right? If yes, then the issue is most probably your front rotors. If you have machined it, let me inform you, that machining can only smoothen the rotor surface but cannot align the rotor. Replace the front rotors it will be fine. I have faced this a lot of times, and is an indicator of when to change rotors.

not only on the brakes, no need to use the brakes when you're dropping down from 130-150, lifting off the throttle is enough,, but it still shakes like crazy...
