Thank you for your response. I do not know the technicalities of suspensions but I think the size I am upgrading to is a Volvo approved wheel size
and I do not think an OEM approved wheel size would need addition of a spacer. Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Thank you.

I'm not advocating the use of spacers here. Since the question was on GC and that the suspension was designed to maintained the GC. The GC change - due to change in tyre and due to a change in suspension geometry/BIW are both different, and the car would react differently for both. See my comment below. Which implies you are safe to change the tyre to a bigger size one.
