Dear All,

Can you all please advice on what should be the ideal RPM range in which the car should be driven to maximise fuel efficiency. Some people say changing gear at 2000 RPM gives maximum fuel efficiency while some say to shift gears at 3000 RPM. Pls advice .I'm asking this for Accent 1.5.

Thanks
Saurabh

What I heard and saw is ideal RPM is 1500 to 2500 and speed is 50 to 70kmph we can get maximum FE on smooth roads.

Regards,

Ravi.

Is it a petrol? Some of the following helps you in maximising the FE:-

Changing gears between 1500rpm-2000rpm
No clutch riding
Regular tyre pressure check ( mebbe once a week)
Avoiding spurts and bursts stops and starts
Last but not the least, ensuring the petrol/diesel is filled up from a reputed bunk

cld someone mention the same for a Swift Vdi ? :)

i change at 2000 to get the best for me. Though it doesnt make much of a difference for the ikon cause it drinks like a bull anyways..but normally 2500 should be ideal..

Ideal RPMs might differ based on engines and their sizes. Speed would be a better indicator for optimum mileage I feel.

Ideal RPM for FE depends on the engine. This is the RPM where the Air Fuel mixture is the leanest and usually midway between idling RPM and Max RPM.

Ideal RPM for a peppy drive is the rpm around which the torque maxes out.

This has been discussed on another thread already. I cannot find the link at the moment. Anyway from what I gather from that and personal experience the average consensus is to keep engine between 1500 - 2500 ish rmp.

Trying to accelerate at around 1000 rmp would only burn more fuel so its important to be at the right rpm

For Accent i think if you change gears between 1500 - 2000 rpm and keep car running in 1500 - 2000 rpm it will give you max fuel efficiency.
