Friends,

I had got my exhaust redone recently and since then i see the 'malfunction lamp' glowing while driving.

There is NO noticeable difference in driving handling, FE etc.. just that light irritates. On reading about it, came to know that it is linked to the catalytic convertor thing.

Now what to do about it? What could be wrong here?

- Is there some part in the exhaust that connects to the senor? - Some wiring? How to check?

- Could the sensor be gone? If yes, where to get one and what cost?

- What about disabling the lamp itself? what could be the risk?

[I plan to go for either the FFE or just Headers/Expansion Chamber for more low end torque. So should i just ignore this.???]

In some cases, there's a sensor in the exhaust! I'm doubtful if it'll be present in the Gypsy.. Perhaps when your exhaust was redone, the sensor was not connected properly.

I wouldn't disable the light. I'd prefer to keep the light connected.

Did you have the complete exhaust system done up? Could be the o2 sensor.

This should be the O2 sensor, what all exhaust work did you get done & from whom?

Why don't you scan for error codes.

I had got a new exhaust pipe installed [from the cat onwards]. It cost me 1600/-.

I also tried to remove the battery wires for 5 seconds. Then the light went off after starting BUT came again.

There is a sensor at the exhaust manifold which is known as O2 sensor, hope you have fitted it correctly and is functioning proper.

Where did you get it done?

Please go to someone good for your work. An automobile is an expensive piece of machinery, and a lot of things can go wrong if the person in question does not know what to do, and do it right.

Perhaps you might be able to find out the problem by doing so.

Ones you successfull fully by pass the connector, the malfunction indicator light (MIL) will blink according to the sensor code.

In case if there is the O2 sensor is faulty, the MIL will blink ones and then four times more which represents code no 14.
