The other point is GM's other brand Ford uses a different pattern for Month, according the Ford vehicles manufactured in 2009 G = August
Well this is for Optra Magnum and dude GM and FORD are two different companies.

Well looking at the Optra sales figures there may be a chance of old stock. What was the Manufacturing month mentioned by the dealer.

Also if your city have other dealers please do check the cars about the manufacturing date.

That may be an Army Vehicle.

Military vehicles

Military vehicles have a unique numbering system unlike any other licence numbers. The numbers are registered by the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi and appear to have a pseudo-random numbering. The first (or the third) character is always an arrow pointing upwards. The first two digits signify the year in which the Military procured the vehicle.

Thanks Wildon, great work :-)

Does not it tell month of production? I got the vehicle delivered on 20th Aug 2007 after a month long wait, so was curious to know whether it was freshly produced or the dealer arranged old one from the stock.

Ciao
