Hi,

After a lot of research (on Team-BHP), test drives and informal feedback-gathering, I've booked a Hyundai i20. Went for the PDI last week, armed with the the checklist from the PDI thread here.

This is the VIN I got from the car's sticker on the rear quarter-glass window:

MALBB51BR9M114967

Is this enough to find out the month of manufacture? Could I be helped with decoding this please?

While providing below VIN the dealer said this is a December 2009 vehicle. I haven't taken the delivery yet. Should I ask for December 2009?

Both X in the VIN are silent that was the reason i was not able to decode it properly.

Its a Palio Sport Style

1596 MPI 16V E3 100CV/74KW STILE SPORT

ENGINE NO: 8655823

ARZ = Normally its should be January 2008 Make. ( The decoder provide me only month and it shown me as DECEMBER)

I booked the car on 28-Dec-2009, and it showed as 14 days old in the dealers' system. I think I also made the mistake of thinking L=December.

If the dealer informed you that its a December 2009 manufactured vehicle then its a wrong information. If its a December 2009 manufactured vehicle then the VIN ends with MPZ.

If you specifically wants a December manufactured vehicle then don't accept it, other wise i don't see any problem for accepting it.

L9 = November 2009 Manufactured Vehicle.
