Finding the VIN & manufacturing date/year on Indian cars

Hi Wildon,

You seem to be the VIN guru here.

I am about to leave (in an hour) to take the delivery of a Ford Ikon TDCi for a cousin. I wanted to know how to figure out the month & yr of the car from the VIN/chassis number. All I found was this from Ford USA site -

Typical VIN

Position 1-3 World Manufacturer Identifier
Position 4 Restraint System Type
Brake Type and GVWR Class (Trucks and Vans Only)
Position 5-7 Line, Series, Body Type
Position 8 Engine Type
Position 9 Check Digit
Position 10 Model Year
Position 11 Assembly Plant
Position 12-17 Production Sequence Number

Any idea what should the code be for Jan/Feb 2010?

@asr245 ; Sorry for the late reply. Just look at the last reply i have given for the ford VIN in this page, which i underlined AL (11th and 12th digit of VIN)

A= 2010
L= January . This only applicable for 2010 model vehicles.

You missed one letter on that VIN its MALBB51BLAM142020. The * B = February.

Thanks. Don't know how I missed that. I called the Ford helpline (number on the car) and they confirmed it was a 2010 model. I do remember AL in the VIN.
