Hi Bhp'ns,

For whatever reasons if you want to know the details of your Hyundai Vehicle Prior/After Puchase, like production date, year of Model etc please post the VIN Number of the vehicle so i will do the best to try and decode it for you.

VIN is a 17 Digit Number

Guys, I need your help in decoding this VIN of a new Civic. I did look at the wiki and couldn't figure out month of manufacture.

VIN: MAKFD163J9N300102

I think the last 6 digits represent the serial number. So I tried to correlate to 2009's sales figures, but it does not sound right. The number of Civics sold in 2009 adds upto 4285 (as per karpusv's Jan-Sep 2009 sales sheet).

Is it possible that its an old production reassembled to a face-lifted Civic ? I know I'm being paranoid here :Frustrati (I assume it would still get a new manufacturing date)

^^ Well its not fully decoded but here it is. The check digit is the concern normally it should be '0' and here it came as J . Can you tell me when you bought it/booked it. May be its representing Month.

I am mainly trying to find the MONTH and YEAR of mfg. From the 10th digit , if I am not wrong, the year of mfg looks to be 2009. But I would like to know the month as well
