^^ 2010 codes for Ford is already posted here

Also attaching the 2009 and 2010 together here.

A typical Ford Vehicle VIN contains 17 Characters starting from MAJ on which 11th and 12th characters represents YEAR and MONTH respectively.

If 11th Character is 9 then its year 2009
if 11th Character is A then its year 2010

Hi Wildon,

I have got this VIN no allocated to me; the SP hasnt seen the documents etc as the car is physically in another location. I asked him to confirm the date of manufacture and he was surprised that I knew it before him. Can you please confirm how you source the date? Very interested in seeing if you have the VIN decode available like the other cars.

Thanks!

Hi Wildon,

I really appreciate the efforts you put in decoding the VIN of the vehicle explaining in detail the way to decode the VIN characters. Your recent initiative of showing where to locate the VIN on different cars through photographs is worth admiring, please keep up the good work. Thanks for the photos, hope the BPHians can benefit from your efforts.

^^ It would be nice if the T-bhp members can photograph the Chassis no/VIN (after masking the serial) of their car and post it here to find out the location of it, so its can benefit to all prospective buyers.

Thanks for the support.

Guys I bought a new spark - the chassis number is

MA6MF481CAHO45099 - Can someone please help me decode this?

The new RC book/Card - shows the manufacturing date is March 2010 but would be relieved if someone here can help me with the confusion..

This sticker is present at this location in both Linea and Punto. As pointed out by Wildon, this sticker can be removed and alternate locations need to be highlighted.
For Fiat Punto, VIN No and chassis no. are also applied on a "Model Plate" that is present in the boot of your Punto. To locate it, simply open the boot and lift the carpet and boot shelf to uncover the spare wheel well. It is located on the left hand side of the spare tire and you can't miss it. I will post pics tomorrow morning. It carries VIN No. and Engine No.

Chassis No. Marking
This is printed on the passenger compartment floor bed under the front left seat and carries: Car Model and Chassis No.

Engine No. Marking
This is stamped on the engine cylinder block and includes: Model and Serial No.

(Pics tomorrow Morning for better understanding)

Here are the pics:

Pic 1. To Find VIN No. and Engine No. Of Punto

In Red- VIN No.
In Green- Engine No.

Pic 2. To Find CIS Marking
Note- I could not locate chassis no. in the front passenger compartment. I found this CIS plate inside the engine compartment after lifting the bonnet.

In Red- CIS Plate
In Green- Located somewhere here was a sticker that had the date of manufacture on it. It is otherwise difficult to know date of manufacture from Fiat's VIN i think.

Pic 3. To Find Engine Type and Engine Serial No.

In Red- Engine Type (to know whether 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 engine inside)
In Blue- Engine Serial No.
In Green- Some other info/code.
