Thanks Wildon. It's 2008 make.(Atleast I believe so - will wait for your confirmation). I took delivery of the car on 29 August 2008.

Is the colour code included in the VIN in Indian cars? If yes, I would like to know it. With that I will try to source touch-up paint.

Wow thanks!! The first one is mine and I bought it in March, 2007. I wonder how "K" stands for February while 'C' stands for January!! Gotta have some method in the madness!!

Another point I noted is that the second letter preceding the year '7' is 'J' for my car and 'T' for the other. Could this mean it is a different model--like a tdci vs my petrol? Or a 1.4 petrol vs my 1.6 petrol?

The 9th Charactor i.e J and T respectively denotes Model , J normaly uses for Fiesta and T uses for Ikon. But i have found lots of T in 9th position and still the vehicle is Fiesta !

Yes Ford uses different letters altogether for representing MONTH

Thanks a ton, dude! Now i seem to getting the hang of it. I wish Ford used the same alphabet for the month in all years, but I do see a change from 2009 onwards.

^^ Its a pattern and this pattern repeats on 4years of interval . That means the 2005-2008 pattern repeats for 2009-2012 and so on and on.

For a better understanding posting that pattern.

Astounding, Wildon! You deserve the title of 'VIN guru'!!

Thanks for pitching in. It helped crack a mystery of the 2nd VIN number I'd posted---the car was manufactured in Jan, 2007 but palmed off to some unsuspecting customer and registered in Dec, 2007!!

Hi Wildon,

Could you decode this VIN for me please -- WVWG10603BT003396 ?

If you give me a PDF like the one you gave AvonA7 I would be even more thrilled!

Thanks,
