Finding the VIN & manufacturing date/year on Indian cars

Well, the RC book mentions only the mfg year as 2010. I do not know the correctness of that. It is a CKD and I bought the car on Feb 7, 2010. So it could have been mfged in 2009.

The engine number is 65192430101359 if that helps.

Hello Everybody,

I had booked the SX4 automatic and now the car is in the stockyard at Bangalore. I got the VIN from the sales rep today. I was however unable to clearly decode it. The number is MA3EFJC1S00169636. Can somebody help me with it, would be really helpful.

Guys...my friend is just getting his new i20, and the VIN he provided is MALBA51BLAM244368. Could someone please provide some info on this? I read somewhere that hyundai vehicles in India have 19 digits? Is this number correct at all?

Thanks a ton Wildon! I inspected the car this weekend and found that it was built in August 2010, but it arrived at the stockyard in the 2nd week of November (Had a look at the gate pass). Found it to be okay and should take delivery this Friday. Thanks again for the help.
