Finding the VIN & manufacturing date/year on Indian cars

Tomorrow morning I am going for PDI for Honda City MT in Pune, from Deccan Honda

I insisted to the dealer that he need to provide me VIN for the vehicle and with some effort I managed to get that

The VIN is MAKGM252KAN200671

Can someone please decode that. I tried some and looks like its a Oct 2010 Manufactured, am I right?

Is it OK to accept a 2 month old Car?

How did you generate this report? Is there any software available to decode VIN's.

From the code i'm not getting anything. But you can compare the last VIN with this. The production serial number you have given in the last VIN is 23707 (MAT613281ALG23707). What about the last 5 numbers in your present VIN? Is there is any significant difference?

The least you can guess is , imagine TATA produces a minimum of 1000 vehicles in a Month, then if its a December make it should start with 8xxx

Also Ask for the Form-22 in which production month and year will be mentioned.

MAT613281ALP36720 [that means approx. 13000 is the difference between now (36720) and earlier (23707)]

However, what this 'P' stands for? I am confused since as you mentioned earlier for december 'M' alphabet should be there and not 'P'.

I will also ask for form 22

I have found this site for VW/Seat/Skoda(Basically the VW group) to decode the VIN.But this site only tells the model,month of production,plant and whether the VIN is valid or not.

In the mean time I have asked dealer to provide me a copy of Form-22. Once I recieve the same I will share the details with you.

Can anyone please tell me the date of manufacturing of this Scorpio SLE model with chassis no- ma1ta2hanB2a10820 because today the dealer showed me this vehicle saying that it is 2011 model. If any one can confirm this then I will certainly buy it tomorrow. Some one please help other wise I might get cheated by a 2010 model
