Wildon Bro,

The dealer has 2 cars, one with a VIN # AM30269 and another with AA75609.

For the first VIN, his invoice date is 29th October and for the second VIN, his invoice date is december.

(a) Is it okay/acceptable to have a difference in the MFG date vs the invoice date

(b) Is it okay to purchase a car that was manufactured almost 6 months ago though the invoice date is recent?

The stockyard is quite far away and would take an effort to go and inspect the car.

For Ford Vehicles in 2010,

AM = JULY 2010 Manufactured car.
AA = NOVEMBER 2010 Manufactured car.

I recommend you to take the November manufactured vehicle.

My car is Indigo Manza which I have booked in December 2010. Also kindly let me know whether whatever (suppose 3/4 months) time after car is produced and sold to me is OK or NOT? for e.g. if car is manufactured in May (i do not know until now) in 2010 and sold to me in December 2010 then is it normal time frame ?

FI11071G000210293

Have Fiat changed their numbering system? Because as far as I know The fiat VIN number used to start with MCA. Request your help in decoding it.

Hm.. Its not a normal time frame for TATA. you have to be extra careful while taking the PDI if you made your mind to go with it.

Its a July 2010 make.

Till now its not been changed. Ask your friend to visit the Yard/showroom to write down the VIN by himself.

Hi Wildon,

The correct VIN number is TMBCEG1ZXAA154117, which was manufactured on 04-08-2010 according to the vagauto website. However, the sixth digit "G" indicates that it is a July manufactured vehicle. I'd have to defer to your expertise on which is more accurate.

In any case, I am concerned about the fact that this is in effect a 5 month old car. What are your thoughts?

Thanks to your inputs, I could decode my Spark VIN. It's a Dec 2010 make.

I feel like really smart and informed buyer now . All geared up to inspect the vehicle today as per the PDI checklist.

Edit:- You have already mentioned that. The Month code and Actual manufacturing date differs sometime. But in RC Book it will be mentioned as July 2010 Manufactured vehicle.

As per you the vehicle is sourced from some other dealer, normally i wont take a risk. Ask for a new vehicle which is invoiced to your dealer.

Thanks a lot for your confirmation. These guys were trying to pull a fast one on me now saying that they did not have the car available and hence were trying to do their best for me by sourcing it from somewhere else. Yeah right!

What is the normal time frame for a Manza to deliver after production. Mine is petrol (saffire) Aura + model with Gray silver colour. Can anybody let me know the proper forum to discuss this issue?

Wildon thanks for information. However, I called up dealer and asked him directly about manufacturing details and he insists that the car is manufactured in September 2010. He even gave me date of manufacturing as 18th September 2010.

Please ask the dealer for Form 22 which is issued by the manufecturer to the dealer and finally handed over to the customer for car regn purpose. That form has the date of dispatch from Tata Plant. Is that's in Sep, you probably should be more comfortable. Hope this helps.
