Only way for sure is to get the error codes read, with a make/model capability OBD reader. Preferably not just a cheap generic reader.

There are two possibilities. You will find one or more codes or none. In the latter case, make absolutely sure you are using the correct reader with the correct capabilllity! Not all reader will read all manufacturer codes. If there really wasn't a code, it was just a glitch. Happens sometimes.

You can follow up on the codes. If nothing is wrong you can just do a code reset/erase and that is most likely to solve the problem and the check engine light will be out.

If it does come back on after a while, there is some intermittent problem. Which can be a real PITA to trouble shoot. Intermittent problems are usually caused by very small electrical problems. E.g. A wire chuffed and occasionally touching ground. A connector not seated properly. A bit of oxidation here and there.

The one very basic thing you must always do is check the battery health and battery connections for oxidation. Modern car electronics start acting up when the voltage drops. Either from a poor battery or poor electrical connections.

Good luck, let us know what you find

Re: Tata Tiago | Check Engine light comes on midway, car acting normal

Update: Same Light comes up on 1st January

On 1st January, whilst driving the car, the dashboard lit up with all the tell-tale lights again. Also, the AC conked off and the steering wheel lost any electronic assistance and that issue made it's presence felt. This happened as the car hit a pothole, which made me think that maybe it could be a loose connection. Once we reached our destination, the car didn't have problems starting up again.

However, upon returning back home and then switching it off, the car wouldn't start for a final time. Called a couple of people at Tata who were listed as Tata's Service Manager for the West Zone, who listened to the situation in detail and tried figuring it out with me on call itself. The car sat in the parking lot from 2nd - 7th January after which they towed it back to Riddhi Motors Koparkhairane. They said that the previous owner had installed a battery (smaller amp-hour). It's only been two weeks, so can't say for sure that it's the issue so let's see. Fingers crossed this time that it is solved.
