Try Polishing compound by Turtle wax before trying anything else, it should do the trick. I don't think you need any elaborate procedure to get that stuff off.

I had couple of paint drops on the windshield and I used Acetone based nail polish remover and Q tips (like Johnson ear buds) to remove the paint. Try it out on a small area and do it in multiple iterations and without dripping the nail polish remover over the unaffected areas.

One round of rubbing and polishing should removed these paint marks. Just make sure you go to a competent shop otherwise it would not be of any use.

You have a brand new X5. Please don’t screw around with paint remover, turpentine or any DIY solutions unless you are okay with permanently ruining the paint job of a 1 crore+ car. Take it to a reputed detailer and let them fix it. They will go from the order of least aggressive to most aggressive method to remove it with the least amount of damage to clear coat. It won’t even cost that much, please don’t cheap out on a professional solution.

Thank you again everyone for your inputs.

I went to the local 3M detailer here and he used their adhesive cleaner. (amazon link)

Most of the marks were removed cleanly. Attaching an image.

Noticed at some places there are some other marks - not sure how they popped up.
Should I be considering getting ceramic or graphene done? What are the good brands?

Any feedback for Detailing Mafia (Ghaziabad)?

Thanks again, fellow BHPians, for the help!

Are you sure this job was carried out at an authorised 3M car care centre? Have a look at the amount of scratches seen in the picture. Please go elsewhere and get a proper detailing- Graphene or Ceramic, but stay away from this guy!

I am sorry to say this. This guy has damaged your car even more. Please find someone who has a good record.

Cheers

That looks like some paint/clearcoat scratching.

You could’ve just gone for a decent clay+rubbing+polish.

It would’ve been so much better. Please just get this polished elsewhere. Visit AJ56’s setup in Gurgaon next weekend maybe?

Hello and greetings to all!
I'm new to Team BHP and am excited that I'm part of this group . This is my first reply. :)
I have removed paint sprinkles from the front glass of my SX4 using WD-40 and Sonax Car Shampoo. The sprinkles were of Asian Paints Apex Ultima whe we were painting the exterior of our house.First I washed the glass with Sonax car shampoo to remove the dust and grime, then sprayed WD-40 over the whole glass and let it sit for 10 mins. Then I wet the whole surface of the glass with car shampoo without water using a sponge, and using an old credit card dislodged the sprinkles. It came of pretty much easily. I didn't try it on the body though and later got it polished off from a detailer / painter who did it by hand. His take was that with a machine you cannot feel it and a machine cuts of too much paint so rubbing by hand is best and he did a neat job.
Thank you

Hi Neal

I also had the paint sprinkled on my Punto's bonnet, roof, front windshield, mirrors, head lights and rear windshield. I took it to a local painting, ac repairs workshop which you will be finding it near your area for rubbing and polishing. They did a decent good job which removed completely all the paint micro dots which were all over the place of the car. They charged me around 6000 bucks which included headlights rubbing as well as they have become yellowish.

Try using vinegar from your kitchen. It’s very dilute and it can dissolve the deposits on your car.
One needs to take a small piece of cotton or cloth and dip it into a small cap of vinegar and then DAB it on the spot. Do not rub it in and do not go apply it in circular motion. Just DAB it. Let it be for a while. Repeat the dabbing 3-4 times. Do note that you are doing almost no physical or pressure work. You are merely allowing the very gentle acidic vinegar to dissolve the paint.
If you are successful (it will depend on the nature of the paint) you will see paint particles on your swab/cloth.
If it works, repeat it spot after spot. Painful tiring boring, yes. But very safe and if you cook Chinese in your house you can try it today.

This is clearly a professional's job here. I would not have attempted anything DIY for this scenario.

I am not sure what's with all the recommendations of using a thinner on the painted car surface. I can just tell you that thinner is the worst thing for your car paint.
This damage requires paint correction and is best left for the hardcore professionals.
Looking at the job what 3M has done, I am quite shocked to see the results. 3M would be the highest grade workshop where I would have myself entrusted the vehicle.
However I am not sure what is with the last pic that you posted showing a scuff on the paint. Did 3M do that while fixing the paint?

One of them suggested clay cleaning (not sure what it is) for 2k, and other one suggested using Grass Antigrafitti liquid to get those marks removed.

Please suggest on what should be the ideal method to get them removed.

Thanks in advance

Avoid polishing and buffing. It damages the clear coat.

I was about to ask you to apply turpentine oil, it's a thinner for oil based paints. But then I realised it's a BMW so I am not quite sure what base they use for factory paint.

You can also try to use 91% pure alcohol (isopropyl), it is mild and won't damage the car paint.

What paint are those sprinkles? If PU, then go for PU thinner while making sure they are safe for your factory paint.

Another process is to use car clay. I successfully used clay to remove some of the paint overspray from my car parts. DM me for the link, and I can also share you pictures of how the color/dust/debris accumulates on the clay if you want. I've a used clay bar. It doesn't damage the paint so it's good. Costs Rs. 300 for the clay bar, and 30 mins overall including some prep.

Since you are in Noida go to Team Car Craft in Sector 122. They do a good job and has a good setup. Speak to Mr. Deepak.
