Hello guys,

Past few months I have been observing on my 2005 Baleno that when the AC is on the pulling is less at lower speeds. At higher speeds i could not make out the difference when i switch off/on the AC.
I got the tappet checked, it became little better.

Have any one of you observed this ? If so please let me know.

thanks.

AC will naturally put a load on the engine. Load is felt more at lower revs. I dont know if you are reporting something really out of ordinary.

Chill out man....

It's quite normal.

hi madhukar, that is perfectly normal like saying "hey my wheel goes round and round"!!!

unless,.. your engine is stalling when you put your AC on.

this phenomenon can be changed only if you can re-write the laws of science and nature!!

the engine is delivering finite amount of energy at a given point in time. by putting on the AC, you are actually sapping out more energy, at that point in time. just imagine if a bypass exists,... the switch of the AC has a signal to the ECU that can increase the RPM in turn the energy output of the engine proportionally in real time, then you may not get to feel this difference.

practically it is not possible, 'cause you cant think of bumping into someone's back in a traffic just because you put the AC on. yeah?

so let us live with it.

it can happen with a V6 too, just that it can be negligible / invisible.

P.S.: forgive the long post; am a bit free at work today ;)

This is quite normal, but if you are still doubtful about the performance of your car you can always contact the bangy baleno club (mclaren1885, rjstyles69, IronWolf and a few others) and get their feedbacks on your car.
