i find ABS on my Verna very effective and priceless to use and now when i use my Santro without ABS it feels like driving without a brake.

That just doesn't sound right to me. The ABS ought to kick in only when you brake hard enough to lock up your wheels. You should be doing that only very rarely. Maybe you are talking about other electronic controls that improve your braking? If not, it is time to take a look at your driving style and ask yourself why you need to brake hard so frequently that you miss ABS.

The Santro Xing has excellent brakes. In fact even my old Santro's braking has improved by leaps and bounds with 5" alloy wheels and Bridgestone Turanza ER-60 tyres (stock size). I just do not feel any need for ABS or other electronic gizmos to improve braking.

5" or 5j ? Those Turanza's are a great set of tyres.

I meant 5J. And I am really happy with the Turanzas. As per Bridgestone these tyres are supposed to retain good handling and braking even as the tread wears.

My friends zen is running them for over a year now. At first he was hesitant to try them. Done close to 30k out which atleast 15k has been in Coorg with a lot of spirited.. no make that hard driving. Still going steady.

Those having ABS in their cars on this forum are a minority.
And ironically, they're a majority on this thread.

It says a lot about this thread.

I don't know why you say that, it shows 47 without vs 53% with, at the poll.
However, I think you mean that those that HAVE are a SMALL minority.
That's because many, like I, have not posted that we do NOT have. (Scorpio 4WD and WagonR LXi).

True, looks like all those people having ABS (in their car ) did vote with enthusiasm, but 'have not's appear disinterested.

Indeed this seems to be another one of those 'not very telling' polls.
There was the other rather sorry one asking whether one was an enthusiastic driver or a regular one - 95% responded they were enthusiasts! What else!
As it is, there appear to be very few average joes here at Team-BHP.

ABS, when made available in a particular variant, is a good buy. You never know when that 20k can be worth its wieght in gold.

And yes, it will not prevent morons driving off from bridges, cliffs etc. Those are survival instincts and that can sometimes kill people. For every guy who has driven off a bridge, you can get 10 who went bang into some heavy object and passed away, because they SIMPLY did not have the steering capability.

What you do with the Steering Capability that you get in ABS cars is upto you. Depends on your reflexes and how good a driver you are.
