Power window problems in Lancer

Couldn't find an appropriate thread to add to, so creating a new one.
@Mods: if you think otherwise, pls move it to the right place.

The power window controls in my Lancer are acting weird. Here's the situation:

With "Lock other controls" button off:
- Driver's window controls are working fine
- Right rear: up/down ok
- Left front & rear: up not working, down ok

With "Lock other controls" button on:
- Driver's window up/down: ok
- Cannot operate other windows from driver's console
- Other window switches non-operational (this is ok).

Any clue what the problem could be? Could this be a wiring issue, and more importantly, can it be repaired?
Can loose connections be the culprit (haven't checked yet)?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Wiring issue.

If I am not mistaken, You have completely new buttons and the wiring has been newly done.Thats where it gets messed up.

The parallel inputs to each left window (to operate from drivers console) seems to be missed out.

The "lock other control" switch should be up stream of the junction of the individual window wires only (not the drivers control as well).

In other words its just circuitry, your switches seem to be working fine.

HM workshop may come in handy.

However all these connections are plug type, so if you have OEM connectors and the right switches, the problems should not arise at all.

Nah, the switches and wiring are OE... didn't change them. They were taken out during the overhauling, so am guessing they didn't get the wiring right while refitting. Somehow this problem never cropped up before, so wasn't aware of it.
Will try getting it resolved at the local workshop before taking it to HM (I'm allergic to HM workshops )

OT: While you are at it, make sure the cigarette lighter terminals have the +/-ve connected correctly.. cigarette lighter itself will work fine even if the terminals are inverted.. but any any attempt to use the charger, the fuse will blow..

Mechanics are the worst electricians !!

Hi Abhishek,

Checked in my car today

With "Lock other controls" button off:

- Left front & rear: up & Down when operated from drivers & individual doors should work

With "Lock other controls" button on:

- Cannot operate other windows from driver's console - THIS IS OK

Should be a wiring issue and can be sorted.

OT: Does the ORVM control pad light up when the park lights are switched on, i.e. is the control pad backlit ? Have a doubt and want to clarify. Thanx

Really? Hmm... works differently in other cars, doesn't it? I thought the purpose of having that lock button is to prevent the passengers from operating the windows, while allowing the driver to do so. Guess it's different in Lancers...

I don't think the ORVM control pad is backlit. Will verify tomorrow.
