Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a used Zen 2003 model (the old model) on as is where is basis. While getting A/C checked,it was discovered that due to some impact on front bumper there is some damage on A/C condenser, due to which it has developed leakage. Now i have two options :

1. Get the damage fixed by getting it welded.

2. Buying a new condensor which will cost me about 5000 bucks.

What should i do considering the long term implications? Have anyone of you ever got condensor leakage fixed by welding? Is it reliable?

Please share your views.

option 1 i will recommend. welding can cause issues later on. running low gas can cause compressor failure so it aint worth the savings.

If the damage is only on the outside then the condensor can be repaired using a BRAZING process..
If the inside portion of the condensor is damaged then the only solution would be a replacement.

Each time to service the unit incase of unsuccessful repair gas recharging + Labour the cost drives Up Up Up, what you can do is to either invest in a new unit- and forget it since it will last you a decent time...or scout for a good secondhand refurbished one with 2-3 months warranty- you need to scout carefully.

i had a superbly working AC on my 2001 carb zen, until it had to be pulled out for some chasis welding work in engine compartment.
now ever since the a/c c/r has been bolted back, the cooling is totally lost. What could be the trouble? have they changed my c/r in the process? the dealer seemed helpless, as he checked the gas presssure many times before me (as per him is ok!), but still the cooling has disappeared. the thermometer barely dips below 18 now......please help guys!

Personally does't recommend Option 1, I did try it once, not worth the pain, ended up replacing the condenser thingy.
