General query about MPFI sensors

I want to know what is the procedure by which the sensors of MPFI engine can be tested that they are working fine?

Also how does one get to know that certain sensor has gone faulty? Is it some warning signal or erratic behavior of engine only tells ?

The only way to check the sensors is based on the following:

1) Specified tech manual and sensor calibiration data
2) Use the engine fault codes to analyse where the problems are.
