The Windscreen Story

chapter 1
my day stated off like any other day, after 4 cups of tea, follwed by 15 minutes of scolding the the idiots for dumping extra mud outside my gate ( hill road widining). i then ask for 3 differten people to help me reverse the car through the narrow gap that the bmc has so genrously left for us to move are cars out from the buiding. after a 15 minute struggle to get the car out, it all hapeens as i am driving down to the coffee shop , yes for another cup of tea, a glimer of light from the left side of my windscreen catchs my eye, and behold there is the crack the one which was not there last night, i am filled with emotions like " i am going to kill some one" to " there goes my chance of buying a touch screen dvd player". to be cont.... chapter 2 man crys as he is slaped with a 12k biill

someone told me that the screen can crack if you keep your car windows closed, you should keep it slightly ajar. the crack is in the center layer and not the top or the inside. the windscreen is smooth from the outside and the inside so dont think any one hit it ,also can this happen of some puts thier foot on my glass ? oh yeah the car is the sonata gold! plz help need advice.

ancer, suggest you take the car to Windshield Experts @ Prabhadevi. They provide spot treatment and repair for windshield cracks for a fraction of the price of a new one.
Not sure if yours is repairable but it is worth giving them a visit before you take the plunge of replacement. They also sell new windshields so you might want to check their rates too.

get the windscreen replaced under insurance. you will have to pay for only the rubber and adhesive which will not be much. a cracked wind shield can be very dangerous and please try to get it fixed as soon as possible.

asap to the repair guys.

I have read somewhere on this forum that delay may mean the windscreen cannot be repaired as dirt gets into the crack.

yes glass is covered fully under insurance but the rubber to hold the glass is not. one has to pay 50% for the rubber and 100% for the adhesive.

When i approached WE regarding my car's windscreen, they told me straight away that cracks cant be taken care of, only chipping and stuff.
For a cracked glass, they suggested replacement. I have however postponed the same and continuing with the same windscreen. In my case however, the crack is a small one.

There are two of them. In M.G Road and Madiwala

The one in M.G Road is next to Manipal centre. In the basement of the building which houses Bhima Jewellery.
I believe, the Madiwala branch is close to Madiwala police station, not sure. Their website has all the details.
