Have a M800 carb one that has done 91K kms.

The car was given to Surakshaa in Dec 2006 (at around 83K or so) for 'general service' and when I got it back, the engine tuning had changed. The smoothness was gone, and the car was not happy in lower revs (kinda starved). I ignored it, thinking that it would get better with time. Wasn't a difference in smoothness that anyone else other than I would have noticed.

Then I went out of town for a long time in late Jan 2007 when my brother used it until Aug 07. When I came back in Nov 07, I found that the car was now not at all happy at lower revvs (it kind of gives me a feeling that it is starved at lower revvs).. even at 40 kmph on fourth gear on flat roads with no load, the engine begs for mercy.

However, if I step on gas (Open the throttle) even at lower revs, the engine happily pulls off so I believe the engine is not getting sufficient 'air'. Is that right?

I am planning to give it for another 'full service' where the carb and air filter will be cleaned. Hope to get it resolved then. My fear is, has the timing belt/chain gone kaput?

Sounds more like a too rich or too lean airfuel mixture.Go to the service station and ask them to insert a puc machine and tune airfuel ratio accordingly.

Thanks humyum..

Must be too rich since the mileage also has dropped to pathetic levels (about 10-11 kmpl or so in city with a/c off!)
