GPS tracking

A friend of mine needs to track his commercial vehicles to keep a check on the whereabouts in real time.
He read about the GPS tracker that Reliance demonstrated in the Autocar GQ rally.
Is there any such equipment available here?

There are some anti theft devices being sold in the market which can tell the rough location using cell phone towers.
As for tracking, for live tracking you need a GPS+Cell phone to send out data
For post travel tracking, just fix a simple GPS receiver, it will record the path.

Live tracking is needed.
Owner needs to track the GPS positions of the vehicles from a computer.

Nitrous, the reliance system used by Autocar India is indeed available to anyone who subscribes to the service. It is used mainly by fleet operators and truck companies to follow their vehicles in real time.

A friend of mine has a very similar requirement, but the only difference is, he is not interested in knowing the position real time.

At the end of the day, he wants to know whether all his vehicles has gone through the entire distribution line without bypassing any of the shops that the vehicle is intended to visit.

How can it be achieved with a simple GPS unit? should he go in for a data logger and request the sales guy to log his position every time he visits different shops?

Or is there any solution where system can record the route traveled along with the ability to see the date/time stamp without any user intervention?

Guys, need quick info on this. Please help.

regards
tifosi.
