Team-BHP - No ignition light

Hi guys have problem with my 1995 Premier Padmini S1, had taken the car for servicing on saturday. had a nice wash, engine compartment was washed too. after tht drove it back home, abt 10 mins drive. The next day, put the key in the starter but 'NO Ignition light' on the dash. but car started & since the engine was cold & at low rpms light came up blinkering.
when i removed the key & tried again no light again. Fuses are all fine, rest of the lights like hi beam,indicator, all working. Pls advice.

Did you check if the "ignition light bulb" inside the dash has fused, since everything else is working fine.

In padminis, the ignition light goes off when the engine runs above 750rpm This is what the owners manual says and may be applicable for only dynamos and not alternator. If you have replaced your dynamo with an alternator, this may not apply since the switching on of the light depends on the charge provided by the alternator or dynamo. Anyways, get the alternator or dynamo wiring checked. This would mostly solve the problem. Please keep me updated regarding the same.:thumbs up

Hi adheesh i have got a factory fitted alternator, so there is no issue of tht. infact light blinks wen the rpm drops as u said. Then y not wen u put in the key ?
im a bit reluctant to take it to any electrician cos the instrument console doesnt have bulbs but LEDs. know a guy will take it to him.

Just check and trace the path of cables from the alternator. If required refer to the car manual which would have a electric blue print of the car. Check the connections as per the blue print. If you dont have one, i can scan one and forward it to you.

Check the pin type coupler that goes inside the alternator and connects to the "L" terminal on it. It may have worked loose or water must have seeped in. Generally these things solve themselves as the "just serviced" car becomes dry. In the worst case, you will have to overhaul the alternator (cost Rs 1500, + the guy must know what he is doing).
