Mahindras running on pure kerosine - is this possible????

guys,

have a supervisor at our factory and was talking to him abt cars - he has 2 mahindra commanders and a mahindra bolero i think !! he uses the cars for ferrying people and jeeps are quite common modes of transport where he stays ie ambernath , murbad !

now he tells me - he runs his jeeps on KEROSENE -THE BLUE COLORED ONES !!
i was zapped !!!!! and he says he is getting an FE of 10 kmpl thats only 1 KMPL less than wat he gets in diesel !!

i told him he was jacking his engine but he says he has a commander for 1.5 years and it hasnt given any problems - only he has to take care of the pump !!
the max u cn spend on getting the pump repaired is 5000 bucks !!!

i dint beleive him but he says people buy a new trax or sumo and straight fill it up with kerosene !! :WTF:

is this possible ???????????? how can it not affect the engine ??

anyone throw light on this please ???

Woah this really wierd . I have heard of Ambys running on kerosene before but this is the first time I'm hearing of Sumos and Mahindras doing the same . I wonder how its possible.

At this point of time I can think of only one reason.. This can only be done in Indian cars LOL

I dont know about complete Kerosene usage...but most of the these people in rural areas add kerosene in fuel. Eg: Ricks and Jeeps in Nashik!

Yeah i guess it's possible, but not with just Kerosene. You will have to add a few more ingredients.

There was a Top Gear video of a guy, who runs his car on "Vegetable Oil".

Cant be,
Kerosine on a petrol engine is possible, but on diesel is pretty hard to believe. That too pure kerosine. Kerosine like petrol ignites fast and cant take high compression. So in a diesel engine it can knock, or detonate way before tdc as diesels usually run 20:1 or higher compression ratios. ..... Simply hard to believe...

Cheers
