I have noticed that my new civic has some suspension issue which makes the car to slant towards right.

I have measured the gap between the ground and the bumper, and saw there is a difference of close to 1 inch between right and left hand side. Is this an issue that can be corrected ?

I did the testing on a level ground and both front and rear has this problem.

Have you tried doing wheel balancing/alignment. It may be helpful. If this does not resolve the problem, then better take it service centre.

Check your tire pressure, then get your wheels aligned and balanced and then your problem should be solved.

Would recommend you face the car the other way at exactly the same spot and measure again. Will confirm whether there really is a sag.

I have ensured that type pressures are all same. I need to do some more verification with the help of water level, but 99% sure that there is some problem.

Is there any adjustment that can be done one suspension ?. I have contacted the dealer and waiting for their reply.

I do not see any such problem in my Civic. It is better you take it to the service centre

Swageo, is this the 2007 model that you got a discount on? Buddy, something doesn't smell right here - you should take it to the dealer workshop ASAP & ask for an explanation. I don't think alignment or balancing could be an issue with a brand new car

put ur car on a ramp one.lets the wheels fall freely. then measure the distance between the wheel arch and the centre of each wheel. if there is a diff then note it down. also park ur car on a very plain surface and again check the ground clearance and also the sitance between wheel arch and centre of wheel. if there is a difference found ur suspension has developed some problems. please ask the authorised dealer to fix it.

it should be the tyre pressure ,hope the issue should be cleared once you check and clear it.if it is the suspension then there should be other problems like thud sound etc.and more over both suspension of the same side going kaput is a distant probablity.

Could be a busted shock absorber..

shock absorber seems to work fine, it goes over bumps smoothly without any noise. What I suspect is something need to be adjusted in suspension.

Swageo - In all probability it is an alignment issue. Take a TD with the advisor before giving the car in & clearly explaining the problem to him, also make sure he notes the problem down as told by you in the Job card.

Then, while taking delivery reach a little early (since I'm assuming it's the first service so shouldn't take long anyway) and insist on taking a TD to make sure that the problem has been completely sorted before making ANY payments.

This is routine for finicky customers (like me!) so the service centre will not have any objections to this approach.
