Hi,

I was taking a close look at one of the imported vtec controller and our Indian Vtec controller.

The observations:

1. The imported (d16z6) vtec controller seemed to look bigger than our
Indian controller

2. There is green circular switch kind of a thing, which in the picture
below is broken whereas in our Indian controller that circular thing is
closed by a nut, i.e, u cant open that nut.

My question to all the techies is?

1. What is the use of having a bigger controller (if any), or is it just a
design!

2. What does that green thing connect too? and what is its function?

3. Will the indian vtec solenoid (controller) fit onto the d16z6 head and if
yes, will the size matter as the former controller is smaller in size.

I am attaching the pictures..

I would appreciate if you guys can help me on this!

Cheers,
Shrey

Mods: If inapropriate please move the thread accordingly

Its big cause it was designed for D16 Head according to oil flow for vtec operations.

the Green connector is Vtec Oil pressure sensor/connector, most JDM engines & JDM ECU don't have vtec oil pressure sensor. For engines which have this sensor, the sensor should read sufficient oil pressure set by ecu to activate Vtec operations. any mistake in this wiring will not activate VTEC.

Thanks a lot for clearing my doubts, however, can you please answer some more questions that is creeping in my mind!

Can the indian vtec controller be used on a d16 head, since the original controller is big.. how about putting the indian one on a small metal frame and then bolting it on.

Will this way create any problems? also, what about the vtec kicking in!

Cheers,
Shrey

Well it will be experimenting & i can't say "you can use it" over internet without physically examining both the heads & controller in question, the pros & cons involved in terms of "Soleniod" "Oil pressure" "Oil Leaks" 'Fitting" etc etc since vtec activates with oil pressure released via solenoid, though its a small experiment comparing to people swapping heads & building frankestine combination on Hondas this should not be a big deal. Since you are from banglore i recommend you get in touch with some local tuner for help, you can check that here http://www.team-bhp.com/web/index.php?categoryid=36 or you can pm "psycho" who is on our forum.

Frankly speaking I think it should work as the vtec controller is nothing but a solenoid and the oil pressure is dependent on the Oil Pump, hence it should work fine unless the dia of the holes on the Indian controller are too small.

I thank you both Psycho and Jitu bhai. I shall try it out and get back to you guys in case anything creeps up.

cheers,
Shrey
