Could be. I have the same S322 on my sail. There has 3,4 instance so far, in near panic sit, the barkes have locked up and car keeps screeching forward. This is true esp with the front wheels. Guess its also due to my front heavy hatch.

Well, i've been in emergency situations and i still haven't slammed the brakes, ever. But you have, haven't you Rehaan "At the expressway toll gate", scaring the hell out of all the guys sitting in the Vtec. Hehe

I agree that down shifting isn't possible when it suddenly happens and that is what you're trying to say. But i never slam the brakes, it's either engine braking or threshold braking with only the brake pedal doing duty.

Main motive being, to prevent the tyres from locking.

I think they are refering to emergency braking Shn2. You don't have time to use engine braking in a panic stop.

BTW, just a few posts ago you mentioned you pump the brakes while making panic stops. Good to see you've moved onto threshold braking now

Yeah... i guess when i say "absolute panic situations" i mean when a dog/cat/person/car jumps into your lane just ahead of you.... its more a reflex action than anything.

I never said i did it. I just said "Get into the habit of pumping the brakes, it'll save u a lot of trouble". Pumping the brakes is good to begin with, but it isn't the fastest way of stopping a car.

I use threshold braking with some help from the engine.

in a panic stop u have to use the brakes.there is no other option.at high speeds there is no other option .but at moderate speeds ,u can manouver around the obstacle if there is space.

Everybody uses the brakes, be it engine braking or threshold braking. No one stops a car without using the brakes. How you apply the brakes is what matters.

actually theres nothing wrong with the car. its just that non-ABS vehicles do lock up in the event of panic-brake.
a couple of days back i was doing abt 80 on my palio and almost overlooked a speedbreaker. it was all panic and slammed on the brake pedal but to no help, front discs locked up and my ride just skidded over the speedbreaker at abt 40 km/h :ouch:

Get brake balancing done, and see if any air trapped in the lines, this can cause erratic braking.

Well, Dom, the car has very powerful brakes. I bit too much power i'd say. It just doesn't have the feel of the older gen citys.

It either brakes or it doesn't, there's nothing in between. There's absolutely no feedback from the brake pedal.

May not be a problem with brake balancing. His driver is always able to brake it properly.

I have experienced this locking on my NHC on curves.
Almost intutively, I developed a habit of pressing and releasing the break (frequency of doing this being intutively propostional to the level of emergency!) instead of keeping it pressed...

This seems to be a safer workaround. Not sure if that's what you are calling as "pumping".

What's threshould breaking ? If possible, i would like to learn from you.
