-   -   Santro Xing XP power loss? (https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/37936-santro-xing-xp-power-loss.html)

The car concerned is a santro Xing XP, bought in august 2005, frm trivandrum, kerala.

Of late, the car seems to have lost power.

let me explain. in my locality, there is a steep uphill section which i manouver evryday. In normal cases, the santro copes with it easily in 2nd gear. Now, even in first gear, it struggles to cope with it. Even with the pedal to the floor, the revs are low, and the car inches on. On plain ground, the engine seems to be okay, but acceleration is very meagre. There seems to be no torque at all, which forces downshifts frequently. The car i regularly serviced, and there are no other ptroblems like high noise levels

What seems to be the problem? I am yet to contact the dealer abt this, thght it wld be nice to have an early opinion

How many kms has the car done.

have it shown to Service center guys

The clutch plates might have worn out but there could be other reasons too.

it has done 48k, i'm yet to have it checked....

i'm thinking abt the clutch too, can u think of any other reasons?

How many kms. has your car done? And when was the last time the clutch was checked?

the car has done 48000 kms, and it has undergone routine service 2 months ago

1. Get ur clutch plate checked. its very easy u can try this simple trick. Put ur car on handbrake, engage 3rd gear, redline the engine and suddenly release the clutch. If ur engine stalls, clutch is okay.

2. injectors, spark plugs

3. improper tuning,

it has done 48000kms, and has undergone routine service 2 months ago

The revvs stay low hence this is not a problem with the clutch. I hope I am wrong, but this sounds very much like the infamous Santro crankshaft failure problem.

Please have your car taken to a Hyundai authorised center first thing on Monday for a checkup.
