Fantastic stuff, these cars are built like tanks so that they can take the severe beating they go through.

Another question. What are those two rods in the gear shift? |
Those would be the linkage to the hydraulic actuator going to the gearbox. These cars are fitted with sequential gearboxes - Pull down to go into up through the order and push up to shift to a lower gear.
IIRC- WRCs have sequential shifts, to reduce time to change gears...
edit: sideways has answered my post! :)
Oh right. so that's what it looks like. But the regular gearshift rod is still there, it seems.
wow...that's one robust roll cage [Judging from the pics :D]
Yep that car is ready to tumble down a hill
great pictures joshua & thanks for sharing it. it looks mean to take on any thing on its way.

You have answered my second question. Sideways and Madan have answered the first question, but I was wondering what the regular gear shift rod was for. The reverse gear, most likely. Sequentially, after 1st you come down to Neutral. But can you again pull back to get to reverse? Maybe not.
Hi folks,

Except that the car pictured in the photos is not a WRC car, that shift rod and linkage is from the stock STi. its probably some privateer team. This is what an actual WRC car looks like under the hood.

That strut brace is solid. And what is that huge tube the size of a muffler on the right.
And a red Subaru? I used to think they were all blue. :)
