Hi Folks

Need some advise I have purchased a new Indica DLX in Aug. 2007 and had done about 24,000 KM on 24th March we met with a near fatal ome accident outside Mathura courtsey a LCV who decided to come from wrong side . I had ended up with multiple fractures in hand and had to be operated upon . The impact was severe enough to let engine enter the cabin car is still under repair in Mathura and they will complete the work only next week . Just need some advise on whether I should retain the car and sell it off and what would be the other options and what I need to check before takin final delivery of car . please:I can't type much with one hand so please bear for sketchy details will try to post more details.

Thank your guardian angels!

I wont keep a car whose engine came to see the driver.

Neither would I . Just sell it off. maybe the accident is a symbol to get rid of it.

I agree with the rest, a car repaired to that extent isn't worth keeping [unless you make too large a loss in the sale]

And please do consider a car with airbags if at all you intend to drive from now on...
cheers:
DocG

I think the indica DLX has had airbag and abs option since october '07 btw :)
wonder why it wasnt written off. But yes , i would also advice you to get a new car, since the structural integrity of the old one should be gone by now

Dude its better to sell the car ....more over after the repairs you will be having some or the other problem.:Frustrati

same case happened to my friends endeavour...they met with an accident where the endy toppled three times(all of them safe with minor injuries) and the whole cabin got damaged and they got it repaired and it coasted 8 laks for the repairs..(the whole shell has been changed )

From when they got it reapaired they were facing some or the other problem rattles and etc...now they sold it offf..

Accident repaired vehicles will never be the same ,as they used to be before

As the others have said, sell it off. Its safety value(ie, crumple zones etc) will be nil after the repairs.
Btw, Didn't u get a total loss claim for such an accident??

Need lsome more help what are the things I should watch out for while taking delivery of this car .

I think you should have talked to your insurance company for declaring it as completely destroyed and claim. I guess it is possible.

You should not be driving this car and selling an accidental car will be tough.

Hi,
Please sell of this vehicle and as jkdas mentioned that "it is not worth keeping that vehicle whose engine came to see the driver".

Talk to your insurance guys and seek total loss claim.

Take care

Thank your lucky stars that you are alive today. I shudder to think of the consequences if it were any other car with a lower build quality (heard that the indica is built like a tank). Sell off the car and get another one. Claim damages from the insurance company. Get well soon !

you shouldn't keep it! best option would be to sell it, if the car is not so nostalgic for you.

Hi Amit,
Just stumbled upon this thread by chance. It is more than 3 years now that this thread was last updated. I sicerely hope you have completely recovered now from that unfortunate accident. So what was your final decision, did you sell off your DLX or still using it?
