K&N Extream filter and Mhp! [I searched the forum with the phrases
K&N air filter
KN filter
air filter
extream filter
universal filter
etc.
But I could not find any general thread for this. Moreover, I can't do a search for a two letter word like K&N according to the search rules. So mods, please move this to an appropriate thread if there exists one.]
One of my friend recently installed K&N extream air filter in his Swift. He had to shell out 8.5K for the entire stuff. He is a performance driver, (always drives in the race mode) and after a long drive of 1500 Kms, through cities and mostly through highways, he says that K&N filter did not offer any performance gain at all. Only plus point was the change in the engine sound when revved hard. Before and after fitting the filter, the top speed remains the same at 165Kmph, according to him. And there was no noticeable change in the lower end torque or whatsoever. So in a nutshell, he says that fitting a K&N only increases the Mhp and not the bhp. (Mhp - mental horse power - Thanks to one of my friends for the term Mhp)
Any views on this, folks?
