2 problems in 14 months is no big deal.
And come on, the fact that Exide makes crappy batteries is not Hyundai's fault. I do not consider this as a car problem.

Still... it was a component chosen by Hyundai for the verna.

The Safari's OE battery is Amaron.
But, mysteriously it comes with only 1 year warranty.
Makes me think they give inferior batteries for OE.

For some strage reason most manufacturers chose exide. Tata has started fitting Amaron now.
As for this replacement battery you should have tried a different dealer or waited for the battery.
Exide makes the worst batteries.

I think you got me wrong. Nobody is blaming Hyundai here.

What I'm saying may not make sense to a lot of people, but some may agree - sometimes you and the vehicle simply dont get along. It is not the manufacturer's fault or yours. Your specific vehicle may have no issues with another owner, or you may never have an issue with another Verna...

Get the drift? Naaah - I guess you have to experience it to believe. Lemme get out of here before someone suggests a shrink.

I guess what Steeroid is saying is that sometimes there is a mismatch between Karma and Carma.

its just branded as tata. its a very well renowned company GS Yuasa of Japan which supplies reliable batteries to most 2-wheelers. technology is at par on these batteries. Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd (TACO) and GS Yuasa have joint ventures to manufacture them at ranjangaon plant in pune

With the kind of usage it had to suffer for those 5 days at the show, I wouldn't be surprised if the CR-V's battery were also changed recently.

Really sorry to hear about the battery. Sam Bhai you could have tried BOSCH batteries with 2 years warranty. Anyways now since you have purchased EXIDE, lets hope it lasts its time without any issues. All the best. Ciao

and Tyres.

A story of battery saying tata after an year if use is rare, that too in a diesel. Also Sam didnt have any heavy ICE stuff in his car.

Lets see if other TBHPians too has issues with battery conking off within an year, maybe a poll like

1) Lasted less than a year.
2) Brand.
3) Diesel/Petrol

My cars are stock, and EXIDE's run their entire estimated life and beyond...! There is something called as a Batch Defect and QA- Maybe Exide needs to touch these issues- Tend to disagree with the parapherlia over Amaron being the best..!

About the Choice in terms of Car Battery chosen by Car OEM- Its a Material Logistic Based pricing- Which items are purchased in a certain batch usually depends on the Overhead costing at that time.

Same Like you may find Exide or Amaron under the Hood, You may find Bridgestone or Goodyear or MRF on the Same cars, produced a week or two apart.
