Well, this a problem most common to Ford IKONs. There are numerous ignition coils gone kaput in this forum itself. Some went dead within just 2-3 years of ownership and about 25-35k kms. But I guess Ford has now solved this issue and the newer versions are much more durable (hopefully). - Just like Honda's fuel pump.

Yes, there is another Ikon owner I know, who recently changed his ignition coil here in Bangalore.

I hope my new coil lasts at least until I upgrade to the next set of wheels in a couple of years !

'98 daewoo cielo vibrating at idle

well, I have 98 model cielo GLE euro 1 model (w/o egr) distributor type ignition, clocked 1,10,000 km. CNG w/o emulator & w/o timing advancer.

The problem is the car vibrates at idle- enough to cause irritation. the vibration is at around 950-980 rpm. its worse when ac is on and more so when in cng mode. the vibes VANISH at 1000rpm onwards - dead smooth!

idle vibes are both in cng and petrol modes - at 950rpm

apart from this the car is is great condition -

17km per kg on CNG city/24km per kg on highway

18kmpl on petrol highway/ city not sure.... (tankful 2 tankful methods)

have checked/done the following:

replaced throttle body including tps sensor and iac valve - reset ecu

replaced engine mounts.(but not original)

replaced rotor dist ignition wires spark plugs - reset ecu

air filter fine, engine oil - castrol edge

tried increasing idling - but ecu adamantly brings it back sooner than later no matter how high i set the idle.

compression 210psi on all 4 cyls - but on adding oil it was something like 240 270 250 270

i can physically see the engine vibrate in the bay. problem is only at 950rpm, more so with AC on. the car feels like dhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at idle.

experts please help! i am obsessed on solving this problem just love this car - the way she glides.

BTW i'll also be happy if some one can teach me how to permanently increase idle to about 1100 rpm.

NOTE: I don't want to sell this car or get rid of it - related suggestions will not be appreciated.
