Palio 1.2: Weird sound while driving

Guys,

A few days back my Palio 1.2 started giving kat-kat sound while driving, the same sound which comes when you turn on the indicator. It goes away at times and on a certain day, didnt came at all. It appeared again today and i have noticed that it goes away for a minute or two if I turn on the indicator or at times if I turn on and off the headlight.
Is this a sign of something wrong or something which will go wrong in the near future? I will take the car to workshop when the time permits, just wanted to know if anyone else has faced the same problem.
The sound is verrry annoying and even ICE is of no help so I have started using my ipod + creative Ep630's

Extreme_torque,

I am too facing this problem from last week in my Palio 1.6. This kat-kat sound is heard only when the left indicator is turned on. There is no sound if the right indicator is used. Not sure what is the problem. Hope to get this resolved when I take it to the workshop next week.

If it is coming from inside the car, the combination switch may need to be replaced. Cost: approx Rs. 3000

Combination switch is located inside the steering column housing. It controls the lights, wipers, indicators etc.

@vipul_singh,

Yes the sound in my car is inside the Cabin? it is not making a big sound though but it is little irritating at times while using it. Is there any solution apart from replacing it

@ravikn:

Assuming the problem in your car is also the combination switch, the FIAT A.S.S guys told me that there is no solution apart from replacing it, since the combination switch is not servicable.

In my palio, the same 'kat-kat' sound used to come when cranking the engine. Once the combination switch was replaced, the problem went away.
