Suspension setup Safari Dicor 3ltr v/s 2.2 ltr

Have noticed lot of changes in the suspension setup between the two versions of Dicors.

The weight distribution is totally different in both these versions.

From what i've noticed is
1) 10 people riding in Safar 3 Ltr the rear doesnt sit too much down

2) same number of people in a 2.2 ltr the rear goes down too much.

Making the ride look awfully ugly.

Why is this

Any one noticed this.

Why is this
1. The vehicle is a 5 seater. + 2 kids, if you insist. What were 10 doing inside?

2. If a vehicle is overloaded it will sit down and wont look pretty.

3. 3.0 has a big lump of a truck engine. Is a better counterweight?

4. 2.2 has softer springs? Why, I wonder?

i dont think its true unless we have some concrete evidence that there were any suspension changes between 3.0L and 2.2 L.

and nobody ever mentioned any change in suspension till now(its been lot of time since 2.2 launched)

BTW,i have seen Safaris(2.0,3.0,2.2) loaded with 7-8 people and they all have their *** down and nose up.

not a rare sight in rural haryana.

Absolutely no Suspension Change between the dicor's.... Its just the 2.2 losing some weight.

There is definitely some sort of change in suspension, remember the ground clearance has increased in the 2.2l.

It doesnt work like that.

Car manufacturers dont rely on the body/engine weight to determine their GC, they design the suspension to get the exact GC. The basic components being:

- Frame/ Chassis
- Dampers/ Springs
- Steering system
- Tyres and Wheels

The wheel size is 16 inches - no difference between the 3.0 & the 2.2

Dadu, to the best of my knowledge (based on my discussions at the workshop), nothing has changed in the suspension - which of the 4 mentioned by you have been changed in the 2.2 (from the earlier 3.0)?

If we recall correctly the specification of GC had slight difference and the net result is that there is no change in GC between the 3.0 and 2.2 Safari Dicors.

For 3.0L

Minimum Ground Clearance (mm): 195 mm (Laden)

For 2.2L

Minimum Ground Clearance (mm): 205 mm [Un-Laden]

The reason can be the bigger weight of the engine in 3.0, the kerb weight of the 3.0 [2115 kg] was greater than the 2.2 [2040 kg].

If you look at the rear diff, the suspension setup of 2.2 looks different as compared to 3.0
Infact thats a sure shot way of telling whether its a 3.0 or 2.2

having driven the 3.0 and the 2.2 (both 4x4 and 4x2) back to back on a quite few occassions I definitely feel that there is difference in the suspension of teh 3.0 and 2.2.

the 3.0 pitches more in corners and over undulations, but has a better ride. Tata surely seems to have stiffended up teh suspension a bit in the 2.2-or it could be the result of a lighter engine. during sweeping corners, the 2.2 definitely rolls less than the 3.0- though the difference is not great and you would notice one over the other only if you were used to driving one of these on a daily basis.

Steer,

This 10 people in my car was on Ganesh Chaturthi day, when my 9 office staff got into my Safari folding all the seats.

I came across a 2.2 ltr with 8 people in it with its **** sitting down.

Have also noticed at the rear axle of the 3 ltr and also the 2.2 ltr it looks entirely different.

I agree that the ride quality in 3 ltr Dicor is better than the xisting 2.2 ltr Dicor.

Wonder why?
