Hello,

(1) I have driven my 1.6 for 2200 KMS. 1st service done at 1000 KMS at Manipal Motors Bangalore. Have done around 1000 KMS on highways.
That said, I am feeling my clutch is quite hard/heavy to press when I try to shift from 5th to say 3rd gear when slowing down to a traffic signal. Also this problem persists when I try to shift from Neutral to 1st. I observed and felt this happens after about 15 minutes of running, when the engine temp guage is at half (thats normal right?). Further on during the drive this starts happening between all the gears ! Is this a clutch issue or a simple tweaking will do the job. Please help. Gurus please bless !

Is the problem always present? OR it happens randomly. I suspect a clutch bleeding would help but don't see why this should happen at 2200 kms.

Its present all the time. My friend suggested top shift up in the 2k-2.5k rpm range. Vola ! the clutch is back to its softness. I used to shift up in the 1.5 rpm range (is this bad?) Dunno if this is the solution.

Please help
Thanks

It is always advisable to upshift in a petrol engine in the 2000 - 2500 rpm range. As a daily practice, this is the best compromise between performance, engine life and efficiency.

1500 rpm for an upshift is too low.

But I am not able to fathom how upshifting at low rpm would result in a stiff clutch?
