Plain 'ol rubbing compound should do the trick. Just don't overdo it.

Re: Help - removing kumkum stains on new car!

Have faced the same problem. Rubbing compound will do the trick, have to be careful not to rub too much. Then wax the area/car.
Another thing I have tried and which worked is using a 1:2 solution of Pril liquid with water. Used a plastic foam pad and lightly rubbed it and the stain is gone.

After this you MUST wax the spot, you will probably be removing 1mm or so of top coat.

Need advice - Kumkum mark on new car

Fellow BHPians, any advice on how to remove kumkum (vermillion) mark from the bonnet of a new car? I saw a very old thread on this forum, with limited comments, hence posting here.

I have read on Quora that using wet wipes with alcohol content helps, but skeptical to try that out. Has anyone here tried it?

Thanks!

Re: Help - removing kumkum stains on new car!

I too had the same issue in my brand new car. :(
The bonnet now has a turmeric stain (apparently the stain has gone to the clear coat).
I have given my car to MARQUE CAR GARAGE (Bangalore) but the guys there are not too convinced that the stain will be removed completely even after "paint correction treatment".

Don’t worry, it’ll eventually fade away. Mine stayed for a few weeks IIRC, but with subsequent washes, it goes away.

Re: Help - removing kumkum stains on new car!

@nTorq has rightly mentioned the kumkum stains will fade away in couple of weeks. Even my car had stains on bonnet and all the car handles, after few washes and drive in Bangalore rains all the stains have gone away.

Any competent detailer should easily be able to remove these stains, very common with new cars. If a heavy cut compound with a wool pad fails to remove you can try lightly wetsanding with 2000 grit sandpaper, this should take care of it.

Re: Help - removing kumkum stains on new car!

Thank you folks. The stain was successfully removed eventually. I gave my car for PPF in MARQUE CAR GARAGE in Bangalore and they managed it well.
