Today morning I faced this interesting issue of unable to shift to Reverse on my Accent. So, I had to take help from my building staff to get the car reversed (push :-)).

After reaching office, I experimented a little with the gear stick and figured that I can shift to Reverse if I do it following a shift to 2nd or 4th gear. But, I'm unable to shift to Reverse if I come from 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear or from Neutral (if the stick is already in neutral).

To summarize:

Parked in Neutral -> Reverse : Does not work
1st -> Neutral -> Reverse : Does not work
3rd -> Neutral -> Reverse : Does not work
5th -> Neutral -> Reverse : Does not work
2nd -> Neutral -> Reverse : Works
4th -> Neutral -> Reverse : Works

Planning to make a trip to A.S.S on Saturday.

Meantime, any one here can tell me what's going on?

Possibly a worn out gear shifter. That would not be a big job.

Interestingly, all scenarios listed in my first post are working good today.
Anyway, I'm making a trip to the A.S.S on Saturday.
