Hi
For quite some time now i have been noticing a problem in Fuel Gauge reading of my Wagon-R.I fill the petrol untill auto cutoff. After hard acceleration and then hard braking i see the fuel gauge dip, which is quite visible. Then after a bit of relaxed driving it returns to normal.
Is this the case with other cars too?
Does it happen coz the petrol in tank gets accumulated to one side and then slowly it goes back to normal place?
Kindly advise.

Unless you are driving up a slope or driving down it & your tank is half full, there is no reason for such variances. Please be a little bit more clear about what you want to ask.

The gauge takes a while to move to the required position, yes.

It does not happen in my WagonR. However, I do notice a slight variation on the fuel guage reading in night time compared to day time, and this was reported many years ago by other WagonR users also.

Hope you are not accelerating to F1 levels and beyond :).

Petrol density is quite low for that to happen - it flows very easily, and will easily return to it's mean level in the tank. Something like that would not have happened even if the liquid is dense - like some the engine oil additives. The behaviour should be more due to your fuel gauge.

It happens when i accelerate to say 80Kmph and then have to brake suddenly to stop.
I get a liitle worried seeing this as i start doubting about the fuel efficiency.
Even i have got the tank filled recently and i accelerate and then stop, i see noticeable movement in fuel gauge. Then some light footed dfriving brings things back to normal.
Do i need to get it checked, or is it normal?

its a problem in most alto and wagon r
i have learn to live with it i have done everything but have not found a solution

Sounds like Manickjeet knows about it. Must be a weird sensor thing, 'ay? Next time it happens pull over and turn off your ignition for several seconds and then start again and see it it still registers funny.

Any chance you have a Pricol sensor & gauge ?

So I do have company, albeit the Maruti's.

Major problem in Alto and WagonR. Even 800 is better in this regard.

As manik said learn to live with it. I know no matter how ever i drive with AC on or off i will get 12 - 15KMPL with redline and hard breaking.
