Hey guys,

I happend to check out a Jeep yesterday. It is a 55 model (CJ3B), 2 WD. I'm very new to vehicles in general and don't know much. This vehicle has a Peugeot xdb 2.2 litres engine. What do you guys think of this engine?

Also, if a 2 WD is converted to 4 WD, does the mileage drop?

I've loads of other questions, will post them soon. Thank you.

Hi Aaragorn,

I guess you are talking about the 2.1 (2112 cc) Peugeot XDP engine, and not the only XDB (2.5 liters MM550 XDB). The 2.1 XDP is a great engine for driving at low speeds and within the city. Its got awesome low end torque for offroading too. The only real weakness of this engine is lack of top-end; on the highway, performance is below average. This, coupled with the low geared standard 4 box, will see a top speed of anywhere between 80 - 110 kph only, and at very high rpms. Its pretty noisy, but is a typical old school robust design and is high on reliability. The fuel efficiency is pretty respectable @ 11 - 12 kpl. Mahindra sold the CJ340 & Classic (CJ3B) with this engine.

Marginally, yes. If it has free-wheeling hubs at the front, the difference will be negligible.
