Facing a similar situation on my 2009 DiCOR. Both 4H and 4L lights stayed on today (happened 1st time in 9 years). Haven't used 4x4 for a while and drove car after a month today. The lights went off on its own when I was waiting at the signal and remained off throughout the journey. However after parking and restarting it came back on. Could someone guide me some simple DIY steps to check what could be wrong here. Removing and checking transfer case motor looks a tall order right now as I have a trip coming tomorrow.

Thanks in advance,
-BJ

Hi BJ, pm me your email address and I'll send you the procedure for fault detection. It is a simple bulb test. Probably you just have a sensor issue.

Thank you for your detailed message in the early post (2012). Please mention the procedure here instead of writing an email. Helps others in this forum.

Re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

My car has gone for routine service for this year. They say the front suspension job will cost Rs.27k and the rear suspension job would be 8k. Read somewhere here that a complete suspension job for Safari was about 16k in the year 2010.

Any good FNG in Chennai for the suspension job ?

So double that isn't bad 8 years down the line looking at inflation and manpower costs.

Alternatively, since the parts are available in the open market, why don't you get it done at a Bosch car Care centre?

Re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Finally I got the suspension work done in Concorde. They changed the rear suspension bush kit and the rest are ok. It cost me about 6k. I might have to change the tires soon though.

Re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Hi guys

I own a 2010 model GX. Of late, I've seen noticed this issue in my vehicle. While driving at speed more than 110, a khat khat sound comes from LH side bonnet/dash. Have checked for loose bonnet arms but nothing like that. Checked for loose things in that side. No joy. The sound goes off moment the speed goes below 110.

Any pointers here? Thanks

Re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Hi Experts,

I am planning for headlight upgrade in my Safari 2.2 Dicor (2012). Please advise the best suitable upgrade for the same.

1. LED - Philips H4 Ultinon
2. HID - Make / Model (Morimoto / Philips / Osram)?
3. Halogen?

Will there be much damage to the existing headlight reflectors in case of HIDs / LEDs?

I have been driving with stock lamps / night breakers for the last 6 years but now wanted to explore other options also.

Cheers!

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Official Review

Slight RPM fluctuations on idle, it reduces once the engine is hot but does not go away.

Any ideas what needs to be checked.

Thanks

Check rail pressure sensor. Any error code/Check Engine light?
Upon accelerating, does it rev normally?

A couple of things to check.
A small air leak, the ecu is compensating by increasing rpm.
A/c clutch is engaging and disengaging. May be a bearing issue
If rpm is fluctuating without change in engine noise, a faulty tachometer
Slipping belts. Check the conditions of all rubber belts

Thanks, will get it checked. There is no error code or CEL and it revs normally on acceleration.

While the rpm fluctuations happens, the engine noise also changes.

I also have this issue sometimes. I just put ADDON fuel additive available in IOC stations and it becomes normal.

Please also get the Alternator checked, I had a similar problem and the alternator belt was fixated and not moving. Finally, issue was nailed down to alternator breaking down. It was repaired by a FNG and now 6 months on works like a charm
