I do the oil change myself, have been doing it forever ! Because MASS dont have the oil I want.

Why are people talking about MASS or Insurance?
You cant break the car yourself and ask the Insurance or Warranty to fix it!

Tomorow is a holiday will do further inspection.

Yes, it is good idea to speak to MASS though.

I think since you have run on low oil , mostly the engine has seized. maruti has an option of rebuilding the engine, either the half engine or the full ones, with one year warranty too. you get a m800 half engine for just 10000rs with cylinder block, piston rings cranks and all. head is extra

No one said it will be done under warranty..what they are recommending is getting it done by MASS so that once you REPAIR it the engine is covered for a short duration under warranty!!!!

also you could claim insurance on it..now whether they agree to pay or you have to twist the story a bit is a totally different story.

Finding the SX4 engine may be difficult. I am sure it can be repaired at a fraction of the cost.
If its too bad, go for the half engine assembly.

i inquired at M.A.S.S here in pune yesterday. they said that half engine can be done if engine is seized. but the engineer said that they have to check the amount of damage done.

he asked me one thing, didnt the engine oil check light glow? even the engine check light glows in case of problem with oil. also when the engine heats up the dashboard indicators throw the signals.

now i am also totally clueless as to what has happened. how all these checks were skipped

Limp home mode

When the ECU detects a catastrophic failure in the operations, like an engine overheat. It slows down the RPM's does not allow you to drive normal but enough to drive the car at extremely slow speeds to the neast A.S.S.

What you refer to as half engine is called short block. Popular for rebuilds. I think it should be fine if you do a through inspection and rebuild.

Any update on the engine hunting ?
I cannot think of changing the smallest screw in the car when it is under warranty.
