Got my Car PC Installed! First on the forum

I will be going to rayeez this weekend for the installation of my CarPC.Everything is ready, courtesy Sheldon of iRide and Shyam of Online IT shoppe for setting up the motherboard and circuit. Can anyone help me in getting usb FM tv tuner card? I am going for 7in in dash screen(Thanks Sheldon) which means the pioneer DVD player has to go..Would like to listen FM broadcast..Internal FM tuner cannot be installed as the cabinet (again from iRide) doesnt have slots... Leadtek has got one usb dongle with FM but no way of getting it here in cochin....Will post the pictures of the installation...

Dilip I think this will be the first professionally installed CarPC on the forums. I will be looking forward to the pictures of the install. If possible, please take pictures at every stage of the installation for the benefit of all DIYers and enthusiasts. Also please post detailed list of things procured along with prices.

As rayeez is in bangalore now,we have decided to start the installation on Wednesday. ZAK ,will definitely need help and inputs from you.. Till now the total cost has come around 33000/-. will give detailed breakup of the project after the installation.

We will be starting the work on Wednesday morning as I am off to TVM today nd will be back only on Tuesday. Also I am looking for a USB FM tuner as I have to take out my DVD player for the 2din display.No shops in Cochin are having the stock with them and distributors are not accepting the order as its a slow moving product.

I Hope you will be there..

Guys
Last two days I was at end effect for the installation of my Car PC. Had almost finished the installation when we noticed a small problem. The USB port is not recognising any devices. No data is shown when flash drives or any other USB devices like bluetooth/card reader are connected. Took it to online IT where they found that its the problem with the atom motherboard..They said they will replace the board as it was under warranty...So waiting for the MB to come...Man...that's frustrating...

Hope to complete the installation in a weeks time...

The people at IT shoppe have been fooling me for the last one week telling me that the replacement motherboard will be available soon. When enquired today they said they want at least 4 days more to procure it from Intel distributor at Chennai. Is atom motherboard that difficult to source? When I bought 15 days back they gave me within a day..So my project is put on hold for the time being... What shall I do? No clue...

2 suggestions.
1. See if you can source this motherboard from their distributor directly or from some other dealer (IMC or ItNet etc..). If yes, go to Pc online and get your money back.
2. Start a separate thread for your PC install.

Finally, you've got your PC working!
Had seen your car in the weekend while driving home. Wanted to stop and ask about the project. Nice to know that it's done now.

How much did you spend on the install job? Did you change your speakers?
I think your project always deserved a separate thread.

Mods, How about moving this part to another thread?

Congrats. Would like to see more pictures, especially of the moulding work Raeez did to mount the screen - does it fit in with the rest of the interiors very well?

PS: Did he also give you a BOOM BOOM tuneup?
